FLORAL EMBLEM BI-METAL PROOF LIKE COIN 2001
On the 1st January 1901, the six British Colonies in Australia came together
in a Federation, and the Commonwealth of Australia was born.
The significance of this union has been skillfully represented in this
stunning Bi-metal gold and silver coin, which highlights Australia's
rich and diverse flora. Dr Stuart Devlin, the worlds leading coin
designer, created this wonderfully detailed design.
The 99.99% pure gold centerpiece is crafted into a seven-pointed Federation
Star, which signifies each of the six States and the combined
Commonwealth Territories. The gold star is filled with a bed of Golden
Wattle, the National floral emblem of Australia, behind the national
Coat of Arms. Floral emblems for each State and the Northern
Territory decorate the pure silver border and show Stuart's Desert Pea
(South Australia), the Cooktown Orchid (Queensland), Tasmania Blue Gum
(Tasmania), Red and Green Kangaroo Paw (Western Australia)
Waratah (New South Wales), Common Heath (Victoria) and Stuart's
Desert Rose (Northern Territory). Brought out by the Perth Mint, the
issue has been limited to only 7500 individual coins, each being
housed in a beautiful jarrah and sheok presentation case, which
displays the coin in a star shaped frame. A serial numbered Certificate
of Authenticity also accompanies each coin. Australia's
100th birthday party lasted throughout 2001 and you can keep a spectacular
and precious memento of this historic year.
