QUEEN MOTHER TRIBUTE COIN

To celebrate the extraordinary life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth
the Queen Mother, the Perth Mint has issued a 1oz pure silver Tribute Coin.
Born the Honourable Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon, into family
descended from the Royal House of Scotland, she was schooled at home and
spent her early childhood at her parents' country home, just north of London.
Married in 1923 to Prince Albert Frederick Arthur George - Duke of York
and the second son to King George V - the royal couple had two children,
Princess Elizabeth, the present British Sovereign, and Princess Margaret.
After King George V's death in 1936 and King Edward VIII's abdication in
December of the same year, the Duke and Duchess assumed the responsibilities
of the throne, to become King George VI and Queen Elizabeth at their
coronation in May 1937. The Queen Mother moved from Buckingham Palace
to Clarence House after the death of her husband in 1952, remaining
actively engaged in public duties both at home and abroad for the rest
of her life. Gaining admiration for her energy and spirit, she became one
of the most popular members of the British Royal Family. The Queen Mother
died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday 30 March 2002, aged 101.

commemorative coin is reproduced with the permission of Clarence House.
Issued under the authority of the Government of the Cook Islands, the coin
carries the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on
the obverse. There is a limited mintage on this stunning coin with
only 50,000 coins being issued. The coin has a monetary value of $1.00
and comes complete with a Certificate of Authenticity and is housed in
blue leather presentation case.
