2002 SILVER PROOF KANGAROO 1oz COIN

The design that is featured on the 2002 $1 Silver Kangaroo
is taken from a painting by Aboriginal artist Mark Nodea.
Mark belongs to the Gija Tribe in the Eastern Kimberly Region
and resides in Warmun (Turkey Creek), South-West of Kunnunurra
in Western Australia. His paintings reflect the closeness of the
Bungle Bungles, the red earthy colours of the Kimberly region and
the strong traditions that are kept alive in the Warmun community
through the oral re-telling of stories, corroboree and painting.
Faithfully sculpted by the Royal Australian Mint and then struck in
99.9% fine silver to the Mint's highest standards, this coin which
celebrates Australia's best known animal and features the second
Aboriginal design, it is the tenth release in the Silver Kangaroo
Series. The coin is housed in a leather presentation case and comes
complete with a Certificate of Authenticity.
