HOLEY DOLLAR AND DUMP COIN
WITH FLAG SHAPED CASE

First introduced by Governor Lachlan Mcquarie in 1813, the Holey Dollar
and Dump was brought in to combat the lack of British coins that was
being experienced at that time. First made out of Spanish silver eight
reale coins, they had the middle of the coin punched out to create
two circular coins.
This commemorative Holey Dollar and Dump has been revamped to give
you an unusual reminder of this significant event in Australia's past.
Designed by the world's premier coin designer, Dr Stuart Devlin, the coins
feature the official badge of each of the six states and the Northern
Territory on the Holey Dollar. The star shaped Dump coin has an
intricate design of the Federal Parliament House Building. The seven
pointed Federation star is significant as it symbolises the each of the six
States and the seventh point represents the combined Territories.
Struck from 99.9% fine silver, both coins are in a proof-like quality. Each
have a legal tender in Australia, the Holley Dollar has a value of $1 and
$0.25 for the Dump coin.
Presented in a unique blue Australian flag shaped case and comes complete
with a certificate of Authenticity. There was a limited mintage of
30,000 for this commemorative set.
