DROMAEOSAURUS - BRONZE DINOSAUR COIN
Issued under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, this bronze coin
depicts a Dromaeosaurus, based on an original illustration by
Christopher P Srnka, and includes the Latin inscription for
Dromaeosaurus on the reverse.
The discovery of the Dromaeosaurus, or 'fast running lizard', did much to
upset the idea that dinosaurs had been merely sluggish, stupid reptiles.
The family to which it belongs, the Dromaeosauridae, measured
between two and seven metres long. They possessed relatively large
brains and were among the fiercest and most agile hunters of any age.
The obverse design features the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty
Queen Elizabeth II, the 2002 year date and the monetary denomination.
Minted and inspected by The Perth Mint and struck in bronze, this coin
comes to you complete in a slipcase. This is a great gift for those who
love dinosaurs or just for the avid collector.
