SEISMOSAURUS - BRONZE DINOSAUR COIN
Issued under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, this bronze coin
depicts a Seismosaurus, based on an original illustration by John
Sibbick, and includes the Latin inscription for Seismosaurus on the reverse.
Seismosaurus, otherwise known as the 'earthshaker lizard', was probably
the longest and perhaps the largest dinosaur, with an overall length
originally estimated at close to 50 metres, but more conservatively
reckoned today at a mere 36 metres. Its neck was long and snaky and it
had a long, whip like tail, probably used for defence.
The obverse of the coin features the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty
Queen Elizabeth II, the 2002-year date and the monetary denomination.
Brought out by The Perth Mint and struck in bronze, this coin comes to
you complete in a slipcase. The perfect gift for the young dinosaur
lover or even for the young at heart. A brilliant piece to add to your
collection.
